SEATTLE

Once (couple of weeks ago...) i’ve been sleepless in Seattle but just because i had such an amount of fish at Elliot’s Oyster House, located downtown at Pier 56, that i could hardly fall asleep that night. Wish instead i could be sleepless for a more romantic reason as one famous Seattleite in 1993. Insomnia apart, the city is very pleasant and full of things to do and see. Go to the famous Pike Market, you will be fascinated by the fish throwers’s show and all varieties of crabs coming from Canada and Alaska. Do not miss the first Starbucks ever: get your Pike Place Roast coffee and sip it in front and the fantastic bay at sunset time. It is nice to imagine people living in the Bainbridge Island, just a short ferry ride from downtown Seattle: looks like they are living in a world apart. Just below the Pike Market there’s an incredible place, the gum wall, also known as the Wall of Gum; at first people used gum to anchor coins to the wall but then the practise stopped, leaving only the gum after coins where taken by some people. A photograph there is required with either you or GPSr in the picture! If you have the chance, get a car and drive to Ballard street, it is full of independent boutiques; and to Fremont area, probably the best place to shop in Seattle: a truly interesting neighbourhood full of bookstores, vintage shops, records store. What to do at night? Go to the Tripple Door, Neumos and Comet Tavern for live concerts and a good pint. Not to mentioned the Space Needle and for the best view go to Queen Anne's hiltop. It is really the symbol of this charming city .
